Victor L. Rose Jr., Retired Adjunct Faculty and Instructor of Art Appreciation at Butler Community College and Owner of Victor Rose Curator and Conservator Services, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in arts education and sculpture maintenance.

Mr. Rose is an accomplished professional in sculpture maintenance and arts education with decades of professional experience to his credit. From 2005 until his retirement in 2020, he shared his knowledge as an adjunct faculty member and instructor of art and music appreciation at Butler Community College. Since 2004, Mr. Rose has found success with his sculpture maintenance business, Victor Rose Curator and Conservator Services, which has helped contribute to bronze and marble works at Resthaven Cemetery in Wichita, Kansas, the City of Eldorado, Main Street, Butler County Community College and other public and private sculpture collections.

In preparation for his career, Mr. Rose attended Wichita State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in drawing and painting, cum laude, in 1979. In 1997, he obtained a Master of Fine Arts in drawing and painting from Wichita State University on a full scholarship with a teaching assistantship. An instructor in the visual arts for Wichita State University from 1993 to 1997 and 1998 to 2006, City Arts from 1997 to 2002, Cowley County Community College from 2004 to 2008, and Hutchinson Community College from 2008 to 2012. Mr. Rose also supervised the gallery at Newman University from 1999 to 2004.

An avid illustrator and painter, Mr. Rose has been a volunteer and scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America since 1996. Additionally, he has completed a mural titled “Healing Wichita” which is 9’ tall and 17’ long, is located inside of “Healing Wichita CBD+” in Wichita, Kansas, and is a combination of symbols of healing and images of Wichita superimposed over a sunset. He also completed a series of over 30 prints are line drawings using contour, cross-contour and cross-hatching and can be seen at “artrepreneur.com.” In addition to his wife, Gwen, Mr. Rose is a member of the Kansas Native Plant Society and the operator of a henna body art booth at the Great Plains Renaissance Festival and other fairs for over 20 years.

In addition to his primary roles, Mr. Rose has found success as a guitarist since 1975, performing with The Benders, The Platters, The Coasters, and, most recently, with his band, Nimbodog. As a solo guitarist, he has released three CDs of his work, and is currently recording material alongside his son, who is a talented drummer in his own right, You can find music from Nimbodog and Victor Rose on YouTube, Spotify and Facebook. Moreover, Mr. Rose has performed as a percussionist with local bands and dancers on the dhoumbec since 1982.

Mr. Rose authored a scale and chord encyclopedia for guitar titled “The Mandalic Guitar Encyclopedia” in 1976. He was notably inducted into The Kansas Music Hall of Fame in 2015. Furthermore, he is represented in regional art collections including “Father Flanagan’s Boys Town” in Nebraska and was featured in the spring 1996 publication of “Microcosmos” with the cover art and five color reproductions inside. Mr. Rose has organized numerous interdisciplinary and collaborative performances and exhibits at the Wichita Art Museum, Wichita State University, Newman University, Century II and other Wichita venues.

Going into the future, Mr. Rose intends to conduct a print show and create a mural. He also plans to spend his time finishing two current projects with his band and promoting them to the public. In his spare time, he enjoys camping and hiking.
