Dong Hee Suh, PhD, artist, sculptor, and professor emeritus at the College of Art and Design, Konkuk University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in art education.

With 30 years of experience to her credit, Dr. Suh has excelled as professor emeritus of ceramic art and design at the College of Art and Design of Konkuk University in Seoul, Korea since 2013. She began her career at the College of Art and Design of Konkuk University as a professor from 1978 to 2013. During her tenure there, she served as dean from 2000 to 2001, and president of Christian faculties and staff in 2003. She held educational leadership roles at multiple locations, including director of the Bible House of Ceramic Art in Seoul, vice president at Korea Design and Packaging Center from 1998 to 2001. 

Dr. Suh found further success as an adjunct professor at Korea Designer’s Council in 2009 and as a lecturer at the Korea Society of Ceramic Art since 2011. She established herself as a prominent artist, juror, chairperson, and visiting lecturer during her career at the Korea Art Grand Exhibition, the Korea Designer’s Council, Hunter College of the City College of the City University of New York, the Hankook Art Museum in Yongin, Kyunggi-do, the Yojou Ceramic Industry at Konkuk University, and the Korea International Cooperation Agency.

Before embarking on her professional path, Dr. Suh pursued an education at Seoul National University, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in applied arts in 1970 and a Master of Fine Arts in ceramic art and design in 1972. She went on to graduate from the University of Kansas with a Master of Fine Arts in ceramic art and design in 1977. At the University of Missouri, she concluded her studies and obtained a PhD in art education in 1991. She holds a certification in computer graphics from The New School.

In addition to her primary vocation, Dr. Suh remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. Her artwork has been featured in nearly 40 international exhibitions and she has served as a juror and editorial committee member on multiple occasions. She maintained involvement as a member in eight art related organizations, and as president of the Association of Alumni for the College of Fine Arts at Seoul National University, the Artists Association Exhibition, and the Hanwool Artists Association.

In light of her impressive undertakings, Dr. Suh has accrued several accolades throughout her career. She was recognized as a Fulbright International Scholar in Residence at West Virginia Wesleyan College from 1996 to 1997, and was recipient of six international scholarships, fellowships, and grants. She was presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017, and nearly 20 additional awards for her artistic achievements and educational contributions.
