She worked as a marketing, sales, and customer training manager at AMPEX from 1987 to 1992.
Ms. DeVries continued her career as a sales and marketing senior manager at DHL Express from 1992 to 1995. She established herself as president at Deborah J DeVries & Associates from 1995 to 2011. She found success as an image consultant at ETCETERA LLC from 2011 to 2017. She has been active as a professional voice actor, currently represented by Cal Grant with JE Talent, since 2019.
Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. DeVries pursued an education as a student at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England, in 1976. She concluded her studies at Loyola Marymount University, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in acting, magna cum laude, in 1977. She holds certifications as a 3rd Degree Black Belt of Tae Kwon Do, a stage fighter, a national systems designer from AT&T at MIT in Boston, a trainer in advanced systems selling, a Franklin-McCovey time management trainer, a situational sales negotiations and internal negotiations trainer, and a voice-over trainer.
Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Ms. DeVries has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She performed as a narrator, voice actor, and actor in more than 20 film, television, commercial, and theatrical productions throughout her acting career, including “Taming of the Shrew,” “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “Hamlet,” “Three Sisters,” and many others. She has also provided her talents to television advertising campaigns for Better Place Forests, FHL Bank, SEIU, and Panorama Ortho, among others. In addition to her primary vocation, she remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She was a member of the Society of Voice Arts and Sciences, the Global Voice Acting Academy, the World Voices Organization, and the National Honor Society.
In light of her impressive undertakings, Ms. DeVries has accrued several accolades throughout her career. Honored among Who’s Who Top 100 and the Pro 50, she was presented with two Telly Awards by the AMPEX Corp. She was likewise nominated for a One Voice Award in 2021 and 2022 as well as a Voice Arts Award from 2021 to 2023. She was featured in Millennium Magazine.
