Dr. Mohanty is a distinguished Odissi dancer, choreographer, and educator, with a Master of Arts in Odissi dance from Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh, earned in 1999, and a Bachelor’s degree from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal in India in 1996 where she was honored with a Gold medal for her proficiency. Her journey into the realm of dance began in India, where she started learning this dance from a tender age of 6 years thereby fostering her passion for the art form, and subsequently assisted her guru in dance classes. In 2002, she founded Indraadhanush: Center for Excellence, where she serves as the founder and artistic director, dedicating herself to the preservation and promotion of Odissi dance. Concurrently, she pursued a career in software engineering and has moved over as a Senior Product Manager in a leading financial institution in the USA. Academically, she has a PhD and an MBA degree. Throughout her career, she has garnered numerous accolades with the most recent being honored at the International Odissi Dance Festival in December 2023 for her significant contributions to the art form.
Looking ahead, Dr. Mohanty is steadfast in her commitment to advancing the Odissi form of dance. She aims to deepen her involvement in Odissi research, collaborating with fellow scholars to broaden accessibility to this rich cultural heritage. She endeavors to use her platform to empower individuals from all walks of life, especially those underserved, by imparting the beauty and significance of Odissi dance. She attributes her success to the unwavering support of her loved ones, her dedication to continuous learning, and the divine opportunities that have shaped her journey. Inspired by her mentors, particularly her dance guru in India, she remains committed to sharing her knowledge and experiences with aspiring dancers. She believes in the transformative power of dance and strives to inspire others to pursue their passion with dedication and enthusiasm.
