Currently serving as the owner and an artist at Carpenter Hill Studios since 2022, he specializes in digital vector graphics and painting. His oeuvre is primarily characterized by abstraction imbued with geometric intricacies. His portfolio includes 18 meticulously woven panels inspired by Johann Sebastian Bach’s Art of Fugue. In his latest project, “Bolero de Cochereau,” Mr. Carpenter ventures into uncharted territory, drawing inspiration from an organ improvisation by Pierre Cochereau at Notre Dame Cathedral in 1973. In light of his impressive undertakings, he has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was recognized for his artwork, including pieces such as “Bolero de Cochereau” and “What is Seen From That Which Does Not Appear.”

Throughout Mr. Carpenter’s upbringing, music played a central role, fostered by the encouragement of his parents, who facilitated piano and organ lessons. This early exposure cultivated a deep appreciation for music, a passion that continues to influence his artistic endeavors. Additionally, she finds fulfillment in public speaking and seeks opportunities to engage in this practice more extensively.

Moreover, Mr. Carpenter’s involvement in social media circles has facilitated a rich exchange of ideas, with friends regularly sharing their work for critique, a collaborative effort he has engaged in for the past five years. The decision to establish his studio stemmed from a desire to embark on a visual music project, translating improvised organ compositions into visual representations. Driven by his keen interest in geometry and spatial organization, his work is distinguished by intricate geometric patterns and vibrant color palettes, reflecting his unique synthesis of music and visual art.

Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Carpenter pursued an education, obtaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts in art studies and design from Syracuse University in 1969 and a Master of Fine Arts in art education from the same institution in 1974. Additionally, he completed coursework in music theory and composition at Westminster Choir College in 1965.

Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Carpenter has participated in various organizations, including the American Guild of Organists and the Professional Artist Association. He has also contributed to the Society for New Music as a board member.

He attributes his success to networking and having great mentors throughout his career.
