Mathieu D. Roberts, Founder and Principal at Majestic Motion Picture Technologies, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Professional for dedication, achievements, and leadership in filmmaking and entertainment.

An esteemed cinematographer with decades of credits to his name, Mr. Roberts has excelled as the founder and principal of Majestic Motion Picture Technology since 1990, positions in which he has led his incredible team to shoot myriad high-profile media projects. In addition to his acclaimed documentary work, which includes the Academy Award-winning “American Dream” in 1991 and the Academy Award-nominated “Martha” in 2024, Majestic Motion Picture Technology has contributed to such major Hollywood productions as David Fincher’s “Panic Room” and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” as well as Disney’s smash-hit “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise. Furthermore, Mr. Roberts is renowned for his development and operation of the aforementioned company’s innovative remote-stabilized camera systems and the Technocrane, which has been utilized for commercials for globally-recognized brands including Hermes, Chanel and Maybelline.

Beginning his career as a photography assistant with Richard Avedon Studios, Mr. Roberts fondly recalls refining his craft in the darkroom while developing Avedon’s acclaimed “In the American West” portrait series. He subsequently became affiliated with Martha Stewart in 1988, filming and producing her video series titled “Martha Stewart’s Secrets of Entertaining,” myriad commercials for Kmart, and her photography book “New Old House.” He established Majestic Motion Picture Technology after cementing his reputation as a reputable lighting director, combining his passion for cinematography with his desire to execute previously impossible camera movements to become a leader in his field. Mr. Roberts and his team has also offered their collective skills to multiple award-winning music videos, including “Crash” by Dave Mathews Band and “Up & Up” by Coldplay.

To support his professional ambitions, Mr. Roberts earned a Bachelor of Arts at Vassar College in 1983. Likewise, he was greatly influenced by his father, Dick Roberts, a pioneering documentarian and filmmaker whose work inspired him to embrace his impressive eye for photography and cinematography. To remain aware of the latest developments and opportunities in his discipline, he is an active member of the International Cinematographers Guild: Local 600 and the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees: Local 52. Looking toward the future, Mr. Roberts hopes to witness the completed short dramatic film that he photographed earlier this year that is set for release in winter 2025 while further cementing his legacy as a figure of excellence and reliability on any and all film sets.
