Ms. Dixon is an esteemed professional who has excelled in education and performing arts throughout her illustrious career. As the director of operations at Opus Dance Theatre and Community Services Inc. since 2024, she has been heavily engaged in strategy, vision and operational oversight at the organization’s Brooklyn, New York, site and other locations throughout the city. Ms. Dixon spent five years as a master teaching artist before being named director, where she was instrumental in designing and directing string programs in New York City public and charter schools. In addition to her contributions at Opus, Ms. Dixon has owned a private teaching studio, Dixon String Studio, for over three decades, where she provides individualized instruction to students in violin, viola and cello and prepares them for auditions and recitals.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Dixon was a strings teacher at The Co-op School from 2019 to 2020 and was the string department chair at Brooklyn Music School in Brooklyn between 2007 and 2015. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music with a focus on performance viola from City University of New York Brooklyn College, followed by a Master of Arts in music and music education from Teachers College at Columbia University and a Master of Education in educational leadership from Harvard Graduate School of Education at Harvard University. Additionally, Ms. Dixon completed credentials and coursework from LinkedIn and Harvard University.

Throughout her remarkable career, Ms. Dixon has been affiliated with the Suzuki Association of the Americas and the American String Teachers Association. Her contributions to the performing arts have included being a part of an orchestra for a Tribute to The Clark Sisters, playing with multiple gospel artists and other orchestras, and performing with Michel Pascal at Carnegie Hall. Ms. Dixon’s expertise has also earned her a Creatives Rebuild New York Artist Employment Grant in 2022. She attributes her success in the arts to her strong spiritual faith and the unwavering support of her father and husband.
