With more than 30 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Koren has found much success throughout an esteemed career in graphic design, motion graphic design and illustration. Since 2023, he has excelled as a senior graphic designer and illustrator at ConocoPhillips in Houston, Texas. In this capacity, Mr. Koren collaborates closely with managers to discuss project objectives and leads the graphic design team through all phases of project development. He is particularly proud of his work in motion graphic design at ConocoPhillips, having long aspired to specialize in this area for many years after completing specialized training at the School of Motion.
In addition to his role at ConocoPhillips, Mr. Koren has also been active as a technical communications specialist at SLB since 2015. His responsibilities in this position include developing visual content that enhances technical documentation and communication strategies within the organization. Concurrently, he has contributed as an illustrator and senior graphic designer at WebLocomotive in Spring, Texas, creating compelling visual assets for digital platforms since 2015.
From 2017 to 2023, Mr. Koren served as a senior graphic designer at SLB in Houston, Texas. During this period, he led creative initiatives and managed complex design projects for the company’s marketing and communications departments. In 2015, he worked as a contract illustrator and graphic designer for Limb Design, LLC in Houston, Texas, where he provided specialized design services for various clients.
Mr. Koren further developed his skills as an illustrator and senior graphic designer at WebLocomotive from 2014 to 2015. Prior to this role, he served as a second-level graphic designer and illustrator at SLB in Houston, Texas, where he contributed to the company’s visual branding efforts from 2011 to 2014. Between 2010 and 2011, Mr. Koren operated as a self-employed graphic designer, illustrator and contract designer in Houston, Texas, through which offered creative solutions to a diverse client base during this period of independent practice.
From 2001 to 2010, Mr. Koren dedicated himself to volunteer social work while also serving as an in-house graphic designer and international volunteer across Eastern Europe and Mexico based out of Houston, Texas. This experience allowed him to merge his artistic talents with his commitment to community service. Earlier in his career, Mr. Koren was recruited as a senior graphic designer at Salmon DDB in Minsk, Belarus between 2000 and 2001. He previously thrived as a graphic designer at ReMark in Minsk from 1997 to 2000 and began his professional journey as junior graphic designer at an advertising agency in Minsk from 1995 to 1997.
Throughout his career, Mr. Koren has demonstrated expertise in graphic design, motion graphic design and illustration—fields in which he is recognized for his high level of proficiency. He has been a member of AIGA since 2014, reflecting his ongoing engagement with the latest developments within his industry.
To support his professional ambitions, Mr. Koren pursued an education at Belarusian National Technical University in Minsk, from which he earned a Master of Architecture in 1996. His academic journey began with attendance at an art-focused school that integrated artistic training from elementary through high school—a path inspired by his early aspiration to become an artist. Influenced by his father’s advice regarding the limited financial prospects for artists in the Soviet Union, Mr. Koren shifted his focus to architecture. However, following the collapse of the Soviet Union and facing employment barriers due to experience requirements for architects, he transitioned into graphic design—a field that allowed him to blend creativity with structured design principles.
To further enhance his skills in motion graphics, Mr. Koren completed the Introduction to After Effects Kickstart certification through School of Motion. This notable credential played a pivotal role in enabling him to pursue advanced opportunities in motion graphics at ConocoPhillips.
Mr. Koren attributes his professional success to his passion for creative work and a strong desire to help others—qualities that have shaped both his career trajectory and his approach to mentoring colleagues. His achievements have been recognized with several accolades from the Business Marketing Association, including the Award of Excellence in 2012 and the Lantern Award in 2013.
Mr. Koren has contributed creatively to several projects throughout his career, including producing Photoshop Art between 2009 and 2010, contributing to the Nomad Logo project in 2011, and developing content for his personal website in 2012. His civic involvement includes serving as a volunteer English as a Second Language teacher for a church project in The Woodlands, Texas and volunteering as a social worker with TFI from 2001 to 2010. Fluent in English, Belarusian, French and Russian, Mr. Koren values sharing knowledge across cultures and helping people advance their own skills.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Koren enjoys playing ping pong and soccer with family members including his two wonderful children. Looking toward the future, he hopes to continue working with ConocoPhillips while expanding his involvement in teaching and professional organizations—reflecting both his passion for education and commitment to supporting others within the industry. Mr. Koren additionally aims to progress toward an art director role despite recognizing the challenges inherent in aligning personal aspirations with opportunities available within the job market.
