From 1994 to 2019, Ms. Mracek was the director of Aabla Raqs Belly Dance Company. In this role, she also served as principal dancer, choreographer, teacher, composer of dance music and designer of costumes and sets. Her leadership and creativity during these 25 years were instrumental in shaping the company’s performance and educational outreach.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Mracek performed as a singer and dancer at Six Flags Over Mid America (now Six Flags St. Louis) with Six Flags Entertainment Corporation. Her participation in the Dance at the Palace show marked the beginning of her professional journey in the performing arts.

Ms. Mracek’s academic achievements have been foundational to her success. She earned a bachelor’s degree in music theory and composition with a minor in piano and orchestral conducting from the University of Kansas in 1978, completing the program in three years. She continued at the University of Kansas to obtain a master’s degree in music theory and composition with a minor in piano and orchestral conducting, finishing her graduate studies in 1979. These rigorous programs provided Ms. Mracek with advanced skills in composition and performance that have defined her career.

Active locally, Ms. Mracek’s civic involvement includes serving as the conductor for a church orchestra and singing with a church choir. These roles reflect her commitment to community engagement through music.

Ms. Mracek’s path was shaped by early experiences with music education, including piano lessons in kindergarten. She has since become widely recognized for her accomplishments as both a composer and author. Among her proudest achievements is composing “Symphony No. 1: Shadow Dragon” for full orchestra, a rare feat that underscores her mastery as a composer. As an author, she wrote “Unpacking the Attic: A Path to Healing Your Inner Child,” which has won over 15 awards, including Gold and First Place Honors for Best Memoir, Best Self-Help Book and Best Nonfiction across all categories. The book also received critical acclaim, including praise from Kirkus Reviews, and continues to resonate with readers seeking healing and personal growth.

Among other literary works, Ms. Mracek authored “My Best Friends Live in the Woods: The Adventures of Albert,” a children’s story about Albert Raccoon, adopted by Mother Skunk in an enchanted forest. She serves as the storyteller, illustrator and composer for this project, producing it as a video series on YouTube where she narrates each episode using unique voices for most of the characters and composes original solo piano pieces to accompany the narration. The channel currently has approximately 230,000 subscribers.

Ms. Mracek also authored “Friendship Flies the Sun: The Ancient Egyptian Legend of Scarab Beetle,” which was adapted into an interactive stage show performed by Aabla Raqs Belly Dance Company at schools and Renaissance fairs.

A deep spiritual connection has guided Ms. Mracek’s creative journey. She attributes her willingness to embrace new opportunities to faith, courage and compassion, all of which inform both her artistic output and her desire to help others heal through creativity. Ms. Mracek’s other accolades include finalist for Best Memoir and Author of the Year at the International Impact Book Awards in Hollywood, California, in 2025.

Looking ahead, Ms. Mracek is collaborating with producer Brian Taw and a scriptwriter to develop a five-episode pilot of “My Best Friends Live in the Woods,” with plans to pitch it to major networks including Disney. She also aims to adapt “Unpacking the Attic” into a television series. Furthermore, Ms. Mracek is developing a new romance novel for which she has already composed the theme song, is working on a sequel, and is preparing to launch an online course based on healing practices inspired by her book.
