Mr. Yarborough has established a notable career spanning over 35 years, marked by significant achievements in both the financial and literary sectors. Since 2017, he has devoted himself to authorship, in both writing and publishing.
Among his literary contributions, Mr. Yarborough authored the memoir “Memories of MK-Ultra: A Journey of Discovery from Darkness to Deliverance,” published by Manhattan Book Group in 2024, which received a 4.8 rating on Amazon. He also authored the short story “Night Mother” for Prolific Press and “More Than a Christmas Party.” Additionally, Mr. Yarborough co-authored an emotional health column and a series of five articles for Diablo Gazette Magazine.
Before pivoting to his full-time writing career, Mr. Yarborough worked at Bank of America Corporation for nearly three decades. From 2004 to 2017, he served as a risk manager. Earlier, Mr. Yarborough served as an audit director at the bank, beginning in 1988. His tenure was instrumental in developing recruitment programs and establishing internal audit groups.
Mr. Yarborough began his professional journey as a certified public accountant at Deloitte in 1981. This foundational experience provided him with critical analytical skills and a strong ethical framework that would inform his subsequent roles in banking and risk management.
Mr. Yarborough’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and a Master of Science in accounting from the University of North Texas, completed in 1976 and 1981, respectively. During his studies, he demonstrated leadership as the president of Beta Alpha Psi, vice president of Beta Gamma Sigma, treasurer of Delta Psi Sigma Sorority Inc., and treasurer for the Council of Business Students. Mr. Yarborough also participated in student activities with the International Thrillers Group and California Writers.
In addition to his formal education, Mr. Yarborough holds several professional certifications that have broadened his expertise, including recognition as a certified public accountant. Beyond finance roles, he holds credentials as a hypnotherapist, Emotional Freedom Techniques practitioner and Reiki master with group tapping credentials.
Mr. Yarborough’s engagement with the writing community is extensive. He is an active member of several related organizations, including the California Writers Club. He also participates in online writers’ and authors’ groups, including one that featured a positive review of his book.
Civic engagement has been a consistent theme throughout Mr. Yarborough’s life. He currently contributes with his spouse to nonprofit organizations supporting homeless individuals and at-risk youth. Previously, he volunteered in chaplaincy roles at detention facilities in Bexar County, Texas and California, and served as a chaplain for the Juvenile Detention Center and the Juvenile Hall Auxiliary of Contra Costa County. Moreover, Mr. Yarborough served as the board president of both the Mount Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church and the Regional Parks Foundation.
Mr. Yarborough intends to expand his novel series with an upcoming installment titled “The Teenage Sage,” inspired by a young shamanic figure who played a protective role in his life. Together with his wife, he is also co-authoring “EFT on Steroids: The Extraordinary Power of Communal Tapping,” which will highlight the transformative effects of group-based EFT.
Mr. Yarborough’s leadership in the banking sector was recognized when he was named Top Internal Auditor by Bank of America Corporation. Persistence has been central to his success. He is known for continually striving for improvement while balancing creativity with meticulous attention to detail. This combination has defined both Mr. Yarborough’s professional accomplishments and personal pursuits throughout an exemplary career.
