Richard Ozanne, International Exhibiting Artist at Self-Through Management, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements and leadership in Arts and Education.
Mr. Ozanne is a classically trained artist whose career spans more than four decades, marked by a commitment to both traditional and modern artistic disciplines. Since 2024, he has served as an international exhibiting artist through Self-Through Management, where he continues to create and showcase works that range from abstract and contemporary pieces to those rooted in classical styles. Mr. Ozanne’s approach to art is multifaceted, often exploring various perspectives and techniques. In addition to his creative practice, he teaches the formal elements of art privately, imparting his knowledge to students and fostering an appreciation for the arts.
Among other initiatives, Mr. Ozanne has been a journalist and writer since 1975, which has enabled him to document and reflect on developments in the art world. He has also been associated with Enchantment Resort in Sedona, Arizona, since 2019.
Mr. Ozanne began working as an international artist on a freelance basis in 1968, exhibiting his work in galleries across Europe and New York. He is particularly proud of his ability to work and exhibit during challenging times for artists, often being the only foreigner at exhibitions abroad, including in New Zealand and Italy. Mr. Ozanne’s participation in numerous exhibitions through the Artists and Embassy Service of the State Department underscores his dedication to highlighting the importance of art in education and its potential for personal growth.
Among numerous other professional opportunities throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Ozanne contributed as an art consultant at RC Gorman Navajo Gallery in Sedona from 2016 to 2019. He also influenced students as an adjunct art professor at Yavapai College in Verde Valley, Arizona, between 2015 and 2016. Mr. Ozanne’s teaching background also included appointments as a professor of arts and pianist-piano teacher at HAMU, Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, and at the International School Moncalieri in Torino, Italy, as well as numerous institutions in New York City from 1965 to 2011. He also served as a course instructor at TVCC-Summer School Connection at the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1983.
Mr. Ozanne’s diverse background also included serving as a quality assurance inspector for Toyota Global SQ in Georgetown, Kentucky, in 2014. He was also the vice president of the Claire Power Murphy Foundation Inc. from 2013 to 2014. For more than 15 years, starting in 1994, Mr. Ozanne was involved with the IAAC Institute for the Advancement of Arts, Science and Culture in Phoenix, Arizona, Prague and Torino. As a resident artist and gallery director at the Ritz Gallery and Cultural Center in Centerville, Iowa, between 2007 and 2008, he curated exhibitions and mentored numerous emerging artists. Furthermore, Mr. Ozanne held resident artist positions throughout the United States and abroad, beginning in 1986 and spanning more than two decades.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Ozanne held the title of interim director and related artist for the Related Arts Division of the Pianists Foundation of America, now American Piano Awards, in Arizona and New York City from 1983 to 1992. He also spent 10 years as a project manager for the Pianists Foundation of America in New York City between 1982 and 1992.
Mr. Ozanne’s educational background has significantly shaped his artistic vision and teaching philosophy. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Arizona in Tucson in 1982, followed by a Master of Fine Arts at Arizona State University in Tempe in 1992. Additionally, Mr. Ozanne holds an artist diploma with concentrations in painting, drawing, color and composition from The Art Students League of New York, awarded in 1986.
Adding to his credentials, Mr. Ozanne’s professional affiliations include a research fellowship with the American Biographical Institute Research Association, membership on the research board of advisers for the International Biographical Centre, and life membership in the Art Students League of New York. Meanwhile, his civic engagement has included volunteering with United Nations Volunteers for Arts in Public Square projects in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, for more than 25 years, and contributing his time to various local church projects.
Among his most notable achievements, Mr. Ozanne was featured at the Leonardo da Vinci Museum for Arts and Technology in Milan in 2020. He also received an Honorary Doctor of Philosophy in arts and humanities from the International College in Prague in 1997. Moreover, Mr. Ozanne received numerous accolades recognizing his artistic excellence, including a Private Award presented by Revington Arthur at The National Arts Club in New York City in 1970, an Honorable Mention at AAO Allied Artists Exhibition by the Allied Artists Organization in 1979, recognition as the International Man of the Year Award by the International Biographical Centre in 1995, a Santa Maria della Arte Award by the Santa Rita International Academy in 2006, and, among others, an International Francisco Goya Award presented by Francesco Russo in 2017.
Mr. Ozanne enjoys painting and playing the piano outside his professional commitments. As he looks toward future endeavors, he aims to maintain his creative artistry while continuing to teach aspiring artists, carrying forward the legacy of his work while inspiring young students to engage deeply with the arts and pursue their creative passions.
