Alexander Kippe, Founder and Artist at Alexander Kippe Fine Art Photography and Founder at Torch Lake Gallery, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements and leadership in Photography.

Mr. Kippe has established himself as a leading figure in the creative industry through his unwavering commitment to fine art photography. As the founder and sole artist of Alexander Kippe Fine Art Photography in Bay Harbor, Michigan, he has spent more than 15 years refining his craft and building a reputation for technical mastery and artistic vision. In 2023, Mr. Kippe expanded his professional reach by founding Torch Lake Gallery in Bay Harbor. This venue has served as his primary exhibition space, displaying his original works alongside various other pieces throughout the area.

With expertise that encompasses photography, photo editing, multi-venue gallery display and both telephoto and mission-driven photographs, Mr. Kippe’s exceptional proficiency in these areas is evidenced not only by his striking portfolio but also by the recognition he has received from peers and industry leaders.

Throughout his career, Mr. Kippe has demonstrated a meticulous approach to every stage of the artistic process. He personally manages all aspects of production at his Bay Harbor workspace, which is equipped with four computers, multiple printers and cameras, six lenses and a color-calibrated monitor to ensure print accuracy. His workflow includes sublimation printing on paper followed by heat pressing images onto aluminum panels using an industrial press that weighs as much as a small sports car and draws about 100 amps of power. With the addition of a UV printer for alternative substrates and a professional framing machine that enables him to cut and join custom frames independently, Mr. Kippe maintains complete control over the creation of each piece from conception to final display.

Mr. Kippe’s inspiration derives from two distinct approaches: either executing carefully planned photographic missions or exploring spontaneously with long telephoto lenses to capture rare moments that are often invisible to others. This philosophy is reflected in his earliest commercial work, a nighttime underwater photograph of a basket star captured during a scuba dive in Florida, which continues to anchor his professional portfolio.

Education has played an important role in shaping Mr. Kippe’s career trajectory. He pursued summer coursework in genes and genomics at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor at the end of middle school, followed by science studies at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia the following year. Later, Mr. Kippe completed coursework in logic at Washington University in St. Louis. His academic journey also included diverse coursework at several other colleges to continually sharpen his intellect and refine his artistic technique.

In addition to formal studies, Mr. Kippe earned the certified professional photographer designation from the Professional Photographers of America in 2023, an elite credential held by only 8% of photographers nationwide. Achieving this certification required passing an intensive eight-section examination on advanced technical knowledge and a rigorous practical exam that tested his ability to maintain consistent light output under changing camera settings.

Mr. Kippe’s contributions extend to include significant involvement with professional organizations, such as the Professional Photographers of America and the Professional Photographers of Michigan. Civic engagement also remains central to his identity as an artist and community member. He discovered the location for his current gallery while volunteering as a photographer for the annual plein air painting competition hosted by Crooked Tree Arts Center in Bay Harbor. He also annually donates original photographs produced specifically for Dart for Art, the center’s signature charity event, helping raise funds through artwork selected by participants during timed rounds using colored darts. Mr. Kippe’s philanthropic efforts have expanded through collaboration with NOMAD, the restaurant below his gallery. Together, they hosted fundraising dinners inside the gallery where guests could select original artwork up to 40 x 60 inches in size while raising substantial contributions for local causes.

Mr. Kippe’s work has been featured in numerous high-profile publications, including Golden Coast Connoisseur magazine, which recently devoted a four-page spread to his coverage of the Moda Miami exotic car show and highlighted his “Born Thunder” collection depicting high-speed catamaran boats. Additional features included Reside Magazine, where he was profiled as a featured artist, and Great Lakes By Design magazine’s golf-focused edition that showcased his expansive drone aerial panoramic photograph of a local golf course.

Sparking an initial interest in professional photography during his senior year of high school, when he contributed more images than any other student photographer for the yearbook, Mr. Kipper covered sports events and various activities daily. After two years of college study following graduation, he fully committed himself to photography as both a vocation and a calling. Today, Mr. Kippe accepts custom commissions while continuing to create original fine art pieces that are evaluated according to their technical skill, rarity and complexity.

Mr. Kippe attributes much of his success to approaching photography as a true passion driven by an inner urge to reveal what is ordinarily unseen. The acquisition of his first professional 44-inch-wide inkjet printer marked a pivotal moment in his development, forcing him to consider how digital images would translate into physical prints and inspiring him to build out full-scale production capabilities within his own studio. This self-reliance has allowed Mr. Kippe to manage every phase independently, from initial concept or spontaneous discovery through digital editing, printing on paper or aluminum panels, framing with 10-foot sticks cut at precise angles and selling directly through his gallery.

Looking ahead, one of Mr. Kippe’s aspirations is to acquire a helicopter that would allow him access to remote areas across America, enabling him to capture photographs never before taken. His journey thus far reflects not only technical mastery but also deep commitment to advancing both art and community through innovation, education and service.
