Jacqueline A. “Lady J” Thorne, a federal grants program manager at the Maryland Department of Transportation, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of project management.
With years of experience to her credit, Ms. Thorne has distinguished herself as a project manager at the Maryland Department of Transportation. Having first joined the department as a project coordinator in 2012, her primary responsibility resides in collaboration with federally-funded infrastructures, serving as a point of contact between contractors, federal agencies and private owners, and disbursing grant money. Previously, she served in a similar capacity as an administrative assistant and senior contract manager at the New York Department of Transportation, a regional supervisor with Arbitron and as a project coordinator with the Cab Calloway Foundation.
Adjacent to her work in project management, Ms. Thorne has also earned distinction as a published author, having co-written “Your Voice Matters” in 2020 and co-authored “Journey to Greatness: 17 Thought Leaders Shares Their Successful Strategies For Living Your Best Life” in 2019. Additionally, she wrote “Purpose not Perfect,” a book through which she has sought to share her own journey in living a more authentic life.
Ms. Thorne initially studied mass communications at Norfolk State University, from which she earned a bachelor’s degree in 1989. Following this accomplishment, she went on to attend Strayer University, where she received an associate degree in business administration in 1997. Eminently certified in her field, Ms. Thorne was also certified as a contract manager by the New York City Procurement Institute in 1999. Throughout her subsequent career, she was lauded as the Employee of the Year by the Maryland Department of Transportation in 2017 and with an Award of Excellence by the Maryland Quality Initiative in 2018.
