Kim Kissel, Creator at Kim Kissel Art, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the fine arts.
With decades of experience in her field to her credit, Ms. Kissel initially supported her ambitions with a formal education at Missouri Southern State University, from which she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts, with honors, in 1978. In the years that followed, she found much success in the arts, including fine arts, visual arts, and graphic design work, through numerous solo exhibitions and group shows in myriad cities across the United States, including Columbia College, Pittsburg State University, Springfield Art Museum in Missouri, Missouri Southern State University, the M.A. Doran Gallery, and the Ella Carothers Dunnegan Gallery of Art, to name a few. Additionally, she has had her work represented in a number of private and public collections both domestically and internationally. In addition to her primary artistic endeavors, Ms. Kissel was active as a curator of exhibits at the Regional Focus Gallery, a guest art instructor at Missouri Southern State University, and an artists recruiter for the Ozark Artists’ Colony Online Gallery.
Over the course of her career, Ms. Kissel’s deep familial roots have profoundly guided her artistic vision, which has been further bolstered by her unwavering pursuit of creative exploration. Furthermore, her dedication to providing her expertise to others has cemented her as an esteemed figure in the arts, especially within her local community. Connecting with an audience on a genuinely emotional level, she is dedicated to capturing the nuances of everyday life in her work, emphasizing and depicting themes of solitude and introspection while conveying stark truths and emotional states. Ms. Kissel’s work is notably presented in a style that is captured by loose brush strokes that highlight the source of light and color.
Outside of the aforementioned exhibitions, Ms. Kissel’s art has been featured in several local publications and periodicals. Similarly, she has proudly participated in the prestigious competition Watercolor USA and was appointed as the art editor of the University Creative Arts Magazine with a First Class honor sponsored by the Associated Collegiate Press. Additionally, she has been recognized as one of the founding members of the Ozark Artists Colony and the Spring River Artists, and a featured writer for both the Ozark Artists Colony and 4statearts.com. While her love of art has driven her to much success in her career, Ms. Kissel has attributed her success to her respected status and involvement in a vibrant art community and the encouragement of her mentor, Darrell Dishman, a beloved art professor at the Missouri Southern State University.
