Byron L. Edwards, PhD, author, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements and leadership in education and literature.

With more than four decades of experience to his credit, Dr. Edward has established himself as a distinguished author and retired educator dedicated to his professional pursuits. His career as an author began in 1979, and he has since transitioned to writing on a full-time basis following his retirement. Dr. Edwards recently found literary success with his Christian adventure novel “Living in the Light,” which reached the number one spot on Amazon’s bestseller list and invigorated his career as a novelist. This achievement has prompted publishers to encourage him to continue writing, allowing him to wholly embrace his passion for storytelling and creativity.

Prior to focusing on his writing, Dr. Edwards excelled as the vice president for academic affairs at Nossi College of Art & Design from 2006 to 2021. In this role, he was instrumental in developing a curriculum that equipped students with skills ensuring their employability upon graduation. Dr. Edwards took immense pride in witnessing graduates secure jobs even before receiving their diplomas, a testament to the effectiveness of the programs he helped create.

Before his tenure at Nossi College of Art & Design, Dr. Edwards worked as an editor at The Portland Leader from 1993 to 2005. His editorial work honed his skills in communication and critical analysis, which later contributed to his success as an author. His experience in journalism provided him with a unique perspective on storytelling and narrative structure.

Dr. Edwards’s educational journey began with a Bachelor of Science in education in history education from the University of Georgia in 1970. He furthered his studies at Georgia Southern University, earning a Master of Education in 1974 and an Education Specialist degree in 1975. He completed his academic pursuits with a Doctor of Philosophy in education from Vanderbilt University in 1977. These notable achievements laid the foundation for his successful career in education and authorship.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Edwards remains involved in civic organizations. He was appointed as president of his local chapter of Kiwanis International. He was active as a donor to several charitable organizations, including Friends of Israel, The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, regional animal rescues, and his local church. His stellar civic efforts have been recognized with the Hixson Fellowship Award from Kiwanis International.

Dr. Edwards’s literary works include “Living in the Light” for Lighthouse Publishing in 2024; “Lips,” an adventure story surrounding a lost week in the life of Elvis Presley, for iUniverse in 2005; “The Mystery of Melissa’s First Date: Book One,” an exciting adventure-mystery hybrid novel, for iUniverse in 2001, and “Dawn,” an inspirational love story rooted in history, for iUniverse in 2000. These publications reflect his diverse interests and creative talents, spanning both fiction and nonfiction genres.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Edwards enjoys walking on trails that he has built on his expansive property, as well as being with nature, photography, flying, and scuba diving. Looking toward the future, he hopes that his books will continue to achieve success and provide meaningful contributions to readers worldwide.
