Criss E. Cannady, Senior Business Analyst and Project Manager at Pacific Gas and Electric Company, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in writing, business, and education.

Coming from a family of teachers, Ms. Cannady always had an interest in the field. She strongly believes that no one should have to struggle to learn, and wanted to change people’s lives. Thus, when the opportunity to combine education with her other passion, literature, arose, she jumped at it. Ms. Cannady spent three years as the director of creative writing and remedial English at Eastern Arizona College and loved working closely with students. While there, she even started a writing lab as an extra resource. Other academic engagements include consultant and lecturer for Poets in the Schools in California, remedial writing and spelling lecturer at Pikes Peak Community College, and guest speaker at the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Bradford, and Carlow College.

Outside the classroom, Ms. Cannady enjoyed making her own contributions to literature. She was featured in the Granger’s Index of Poetry, “Sunlight in the Cafeteria,” and wrote numerous essays on teaching. She also authored pieces like “For Such a Time as This,” and “Lakes & Legacies,” served as an editor, researcher, and translator for “Leon Felipe: The Last Troubadour,” and contributed to anthologies, magazines, and periodicals. Notably, she was one of four artists chosen to represent the federally funded program, “Arts in Arizona Towns.” Furthermore, Ms. Cannady was anthologized in “Poet Dreaming in the Artist’s House” (Milkweed Editions). She is one of three featured poets in the Poetry Center at the University of Arizona, with her poetry being included in the audio archive at the institution.

Over the years, however, Ms. Cannady’s career began to evolve. She developed an interest in technical writing and training, spurred by a position as a technological publications editor. After deciding to pursue this path further, she co-founded MC & Associates, Inc., to develop and produce marketing materials, interactive guides, and training materials for clients like Hewlett-Packard, NCR, Philips, Telos, and Altia. Ms. Cannady became one of their preferred consultants, and eventually became a senior learning products engineer at the Hewlett-Packard Company. She spent nine years in that capacity and is now working as a business analyst and project manager at the Pacific Gas & Electric Company.

To prepare for her endeavors, Ms. Cannady obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English at the University of California, Irvine, in 1973, a Master of Fine Arts in writing at the University of Arizona in 1977, and a lifetime teaching certificate in Arizona. She also earned a CMMI certification from Hewlett-Packard and a Train the Trainer certification.

When Ms. Cannady isn’t working, her favorite pastimes include gardening, reading, writing, and watching sports, especially the Los Angeles Lakers and Dodgers.
