Edward M. Donald, adjunct instructor of visual arts at College for Creative Studies, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in arts education.

With more than 50 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Donald is a proven expert in the visual arts industry. Since 2008, he has served as an adjunct visual arts instructor at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan, having also previously worked with the institution from 1979 to 1999. In this role, he primarily educates students in the art of figure drawing. Having worked with numerous academic institutions over the course of his career, including Cengage Learning Inc., the Cambrian College of Applied Arts and Technology-Canada, and The Hopkins Group, Mr. Donald has also excelled in teaching design fundamentals, graphic design and art direction.

Outside of his endeavors as a teacher and mentor, Mr. Donald boasts an extensive history creating his own artistic pieces. Specializing in drawing and painting, he tends to work in the mediums of ink washes, acrylics, and the use of charcoal and graphite. Since 2011, he has had his mixed media artwork featured in a large assortment of juried gallery exhibitions in North America and Europe. More recently, in 2022, Mr. Donald’s work was featured Thought Art, the NYC Artwalk, the Biennale Artbox Expo in Venice, Italy, The Factory and The Holy Art Gallery in London, England, and the Palma 1.0 Artbox Project in Palma, Spain.

As part of his vocational journey, Mr. Donald cultivated his own formal education, completing coursework in liberal arts studies at Kentucky State University between 1965 and 1966 and at the arts school of The Society of Arts and Crafts from 1966 to 1969. He ultimately earned a diploma in advertising design, with a minor in illustration, at the Center for Creative Studies (now the College for Creative Studies) in 1975. Ever committed to his profession, Mr. Donald also remains affiliated with several pertinent organizations, including the American Institute of Graphic Arts, the Founders Society of the Detroit Institute of Arts, and the Art Directors Club of Detroit. Furthermore, he is a founding member of the Graphic Artists Guild.

Well-regarded for his artistic achievements, Mr. Donald has been honored with numerous accolades throughout his career, including the Luxembourg Art Prize and Certificate of Artistic Achievement from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022. Outside of his primary professional interests, he is also known for his commitment to civic advocacy, having long participated as a donor for The Salvation Army USA and UNICEF USA. In light of his fulfilling career, he has largely attributed his success to his stick-to-itiveness and determination. Accounting for his accomplishments, Mr. Donald is particularly proud to have successfully transitioned from corporate advertising to becoming a thriving visual artist.
