Beau Lyday, sculptor at Farmstead Studio, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in art and furniture crafting.
With 45 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Lyday has excelled as owner and sculptor of Farmstead Studio since 2012. In his role, he has garnered expertise as a furniture maker and crafter of large- and small-scale sculptures. He specializes in gothic architecture and sacred geometry and is recognized for his skills in product design, design strategy, industrial design, sketching, product development, rendering, manufacturing, model making, concept development, and custom furniture. He began his career as a product development manager at Bernhardt Furniture Company from 1999 to 2011.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Lyday pursued an education at Berry College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in industrial and product design in 1977. Beyond his responsibilities within the field, he has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He served as president of Habitat for Humanity for Caldwell County North Carolina. In addition to his primary vocation, he remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He was a member of the Tri-State Sculptors, the International Sculpture Center and Mid-South Sculptors.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Lyday has accrued several accolades throughout his career. His work was selected as the winner of the Uncommon Goods Garden Design Challenge in 2013, was awarded Best in Show in 2017 and 2018 at the Lenoir Sculpture Celebration in NC, and recognized as Best in Show at the North Charleston Sculpture Exhibition in 2021. He credits his achievements to his unique subject selection and using an unconventional sculptural material of aged, galvanized tin roofing formed over a constructed wood framework to make his pieces. Utilizing good craftsmanship is at the core of each of his works. In his day-to-day efforts, he pours his heart and soul into exquisitely crafting works of art with the intention of inspiring and comforting those who have the pleasure of viewing them. The content is highly emotive and boasts a plethora of intricate details.
Mr. Lyday has set a goal of getting one of his sculptures on permanent display at a museum within the next five to 10 years. He also looks forward to prioritizing his hobbies, which include vegetable gardening, cooking, primitive antiques, and enjoying his family. His wife, Brenda, is also an artist. They have three children, two grandsons, and a family pet named Waldo.
