Lynn Slaughter, novelist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in creative writing.

With decades of experience, Ms. Slaughter has established a successful career in creative writing and has excelled as a self-employed novelist since 2004. Her notable works include “Missed Cue” (2023), “Deadly Setup” (2022), and “Leisha’s Song” (2021). Her career also spans teaching roles as adjunct faculty at Indiana University Southeast from 2005 to 2019 and at Bellarmine University in 2018. She was executive director at Sacred Heart School for the Arts from 2006 to 2010 and co-directed dance companies like Art! Art! Barking Dog Dance Company from 1996 to 2001. Earlier in her career, she was a graduate teaching assistant at both the University of Michigan from 1972 to 1976 and the University of Arizona from 1970 to 1972.

Ms. Slaughter’s background also includes her work as a professional dancer and dance professor at various institutions, including Colorado College and the University of Michigan, and chairing the Department of Dance at the Youth Performing Arts School from 1991 to 1996. She has been a panelist at the Kentucky Book Festival and delivered the keynote at Indiana University Southeast’s Adjunct Faculty Scholars’ Conference in 2018. Between 1989 and 2006, she authored over 150 feature articles for notable publications and secured grants for “Flying at Fifty,” a dance project showcasing women artists over 50. She also spent five seasons as a principal dancer with Harbinger Dance Company.

Ms. Slaughter has earned numerous accolades, such as the Independent Book Awards for “Missed Cue” and the NYC Big Book Award in 2024. Her novel “Missing Mom,” due for release in January 2025, was a Claymore finalist in 2023 and recognized as a Killer Nashville Silver Falchion Award Top Pick from 2023 to 2024. “Deadly Setup” won several awards, including the Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards Silver Medal. “Leisha’s Song” received an Agatha nomination and multiple awards in 2022, while “It Should Have Been You” was a Silver Falchion finalist in 2019. She is a member of professional organizations such as Sisters in Crime and Mystery Writers of America and has held leadership roles, including president of Derby Rotten Scoundrels. Looking to the future, she aspires to continue to excel as a novelist and dedicating her time to organizations in the industry
