Mr. Licata, a widely-recognized musician, sound engineer and international award-winning composer, has been affiliated with Orenda Pictures in Windermere, Florida, since 2017 as a film composer. Leveraging his talents, he has been instrumental in the company’s continued success, providing his expertise in film and music, cinematic composing and sound design, and bringing film to life.
Passionate about music, Mr. Licata spent over two decades as a prominent and well-known disc jockey in New York City and the tristate area until 2022. His expertise in mixing and mastering and EDM production was instrumental in his success and notoriety in the industry. During his tenure, Mr. Licata produced a hit EDM record in 2009 that received widespread acclaim in the dance music arena and became a hit on the radio. It also earned him the opportunity to attend the Winter Music Conference in Miami, where he DJed with some of the biggest acts worldwide, a career highlight for him.
Since pivoting into composing, Mr. Licata released a debut album as a cinematic soundtrack composer, quickly gaining recognition from leaders in the industry, particularly film. Subsequently, he earned credits for original theme songs composed for several novels, including “A Soldier’s Crest” by Joseph Angotti and “Battle for The Heavens: The Bad Seed” by Michael Lackey. In 2022, Mr. Licata garnered acclaim for his contributions to “AAgnostic,” an award-winning short film directed by Daniel James Dismukes in 2022 that was showcased at numerous film festivals throughout the United States and Europe. The film is about a girl who loses her way after a devastating accident, turns to alcohol to cope and questions her faith.
Following high school, Mr. Licata graduated from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, in 2004. Years later, he returned to college to advance his career. He was accepted to Berklee College of Music, a private music school in Boston, where he acquired an undergraduate degree in music composition for film, games and television in 2022. Mr. Licata notably graduated from Berklee College of Music at the top of his class.
In light of his remarkable success thus far, Mr. Licata was nominated for Best Original Score at a film festival in Los Angeles and was subsequently recognized with Best Original Score in Los Angeles, Berlin, Athens, the U.K. and New York City for Orenda Pictures’ short film, “Aagnostic.” He also received several other accolades, including an Outstanding Achievement Award from the IndieX Film Fest in Los Angeles and Best Composer at the Cult Movies International Film Festival. Beyond these coveted honors, Mr. Licata was featured in the Orlando Voyager in May 2024 and BOLD Journey in October 2024, highlighting his accomplishments as a talented artist.
Mr. Licata’s perseverance, diligent practice and extensive study have been instrumental in his success. He also notes the ongoing support of his family, particularly the encouragement he has received from his father and grandparents, who have served as his biggest support system. As he continues to grow and evolve, Mr. Licata intends to shift his focus entirely to the film industry while honing his expertise in audio engineering.
