Katya Leonovich

Title: Artist and Owner
Company: Leonovich Gallery
Location: New York, New York, United States

Katya Leonovich, artist and owner of Leonovich Gallery, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in art.

Over the course of a career that has spanned nearly four decades, Ms. Leonovich has dedicated herself to the arts and to showcasing works through Leonovich Gallery. As the gallery’s owner, she oversees the business while participating in her art career through painting, sketching, designing art and fashion. She started her LLC in 2009 to produce her brand Katya Leonovich. Originally from Russia, she studied in art schools and fashion academies there and in Italy before immigrating to the United States. She believes her journey reflects an American spirit of determination and self-reliance.

Ms. Leonovich considers the most notable achievement in her career to be her work in fashion. She has dedicated a significant amount of time to this field, dressing stars, including Cyndi Lauper and Carrie Underwood, and has garnered substantial publicity. While fashion has been a major part of her career, she finds more fulfillment through her other artistic endeavors and looks forward to dedicating additional time to her art in the future.

As an artist, Ms. Leonovich enjoys spending time in her studio and gallery, where she engages with visitors from around the world. She recently held an exhibition featuring her artworks inspired by country music, allowing her to meet and converse with many musicians. She finds joy in being surrounded by creative individuals and has become increasingly involved in communicating with people, especially musicians. Her recent focus on country music has made her fall in love with the genre. Previously, she created a show called “American Renaissance,” which reflects her discovery of America and her sense of feeling at home in the country.

Ms. Leonovich has won awards for her work, such as Designer of the Year in 2000 and Best Designer from the Mittelmoda Fashion Awards. She has also been a finalist for the Smirnoff International Patrons Awards and the Supima Cotton Designers Competition in New York City. To remain current in her field, she holds membership with The National Arts Club.

Moving forward, Ms. Leonovich strives to improve her art and support women artists in their careers by discovering and promoting talented individuals. She believes that women artists are underrepresented in museums, often making up an estimated 1 to 5% of the exhibits, despite their potential and energy. To address this, she joined the National Association of Women Artists Inc. (NAWA) and aims to create a supportive community for women in the arts. Ms. Leonovich considers herself a social person who utilizes her skills to bring talent together, showcase their work in her gallery and build friendships. Her ultimate dream is to establish a museum for women creatives to showcase their work in New York City.
