She provided superior education as a mathematics and reading teacher with the Lakeview Local School District from 1998 to 2008 and subsequently as a literacy coach with Trumbull County Educational Service Center from 2008 to 2010, in which she interpreted test scores and modeled and recommended teaching strategies to teachers.

She has researched local history extensively and served as president of Cortland Bazetta Historical Society and Museum from 2005 to 2007. In what she considers a career highlight, Ms. Lane has authored four books on the history of her local region that include “A Walk Through Historic Cortland” and “Cortland and Bazetta Township,” which appeared on the nationally famed Arcadia imprint. She attributes her success throughout the years to the friendships that she has made in her hometown. In the coming years, Ms. Lane intends to have finished writing at least one of the children’s books on which she is currently working.
