As a best-selling novel, “When Love is Not Enough” details the chronicles of a young woman named LauraJo who has borderline personality disorder. Told through the eyes of her journal entries over the course of 10 years between 1976 and 1986, as well as LauraJo’s commentary on the complexities of borderline personality disorder and its effect on human relations, “Love is Not Enough” is a groundbreaking novel that took LauraJo’s mother over 20 years to prepare. Laura-Jo’s journal entries were selected to illustrate the different facets of LauraJo’s personality in various capacities, including her experiences with emotional behavior, humor, sexuality, medical complications and religious beliefs. In addition, LauraJo’s personal artwork, sculptures, poetry and songs, as well as photographs of family and friends, are included in the novel. Borderline personality disorder is defined as a cluster B personality disorder characterized by such symptoms as unstable sense of self, black-and-white thinking, erratic personal relationships, impulsive and/or self-destructive behaviors, fears of abandonment, chronic feelings of emptiness or dissociative tendencies, anger spells and extreme mood swings. “When Love is Not Enough” is available for purchase on Amazon.com and at Barnes & Noble stores.
