Jo Ann Koepke, founder and president of Jo Ann Koepke’s Peace Arts Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Artists for dedication, achievements, and leadership in artwork.
Across a varied professional life, Ms. Koepke has focused on one goal above all else: helping those in need. For the first five years of her career, beginning in 1966, she served as an EKG technician and nursing technician at various hospitals across Nebraska. In 2012, Ms. Koepke joined House the Homeless Inc. as a project manager and board secretary. In this position, she organized volunteer work, education and advocacy around caring for homeless people. Finally, in 2015, Ms. Koepke stepped into her current role as founder and president of Jo Ann Koepke’s Peace Arts Inc. Through this organization, she is able to embrace her artistic talents while using the proceeds from sales to support causes that are important to her, with a special focus on aiding children in Africa and Ukraine.
Ms. Koepke’s professional journey has been supported by her education, beginning with three years of pre-med coursework at Doane University and another three years at the University of Nebraska. Following that, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in English with minors in biology and chemistry from Wayne State College in 1984. Subsequently, Ms. Koepke earned a Master of Arts in women’s study and religion from Norwich University in 1990. Dedicated to lifelong learning, she is currently pursuing a PhD in Holocaust studies.
Outside of her career, Ms. Koepke enjoys playing the piano, cooking for friends and family, creating art with watercolors and colored pencils, and playing with her cat. Looking to the future, she hopes to further establish Jo Ann Koepke’s Peace Arts Inc., and to spin that success into greater contributions to helping the world. To help accomplish this, Ms. Koepke plans for an ambitious redesign of her website, allowing her to provide historical context alongside her artwork. She is also writing an autobiography with the intent of sharing her story of resilience in the face of deeply challenging experiences. Ms. Koepke’s book will be titled “Hope.”
