Ms. Austin, a leading advertising executive and expert in graphic design and visual storytelling, founded BioCraft LLC in San Diego in 2020. At the helm of her firm, she focuses on working with business owners, particularly startups, by creating sensational visuals to showcase their companies’ offerings. Ms. Austin’s corporate branding and messaging expertise has been instrumental in bringing attention to and showcasing her clients’ products and services, earning her respect in the field.
Leveraging many years of success in the industry, Ms. Austin worked for Alden Marketing Communications in the Greater San Diego area for two decades, beginning in 2000. She started her career with the boutique marketing agency as a 3D animator before pivoting to the web and design department, where she utilized her web and graphic design background. Continually progressing, Ms. Austin rose to become the executive vice president, mainly managing the web department but overseeing many other creative aspects of the business.
During her distinguished tenure at Alden Marketing Communications, Ms. Austin recognized her strength in creating PowerPoint presentations, especially crafting corporate decks that effectively communicated compelling stories about biotech companies for investors. These corporate decks are presentations with a series of slides providing details about a product or service. Once she launched her company, Biocraft LLC, Ms. Austin focused primarily on these presentations to communicate important messages, attract investments and support scientific advancement.
Before being acquired by Alden Marketing Communications, Ms. Austin spent a year as a freelance animator for Destiny Images in 1999. Working remotely, she successfully created 3D animations for two song segments on a children’s television program, “Letter TV.”
In preparation for her future, Ms. Austin studied at Platt College in San Diego, where she received an associate of arts. Continuing her studies, she garnered a Bachelor of Arts in fine and studio arts at the University of Western Ontario in 1994. Her education has been pivotal in teaching her the fundamentals of the art of advertising and how to use one’s creativity to elevate others’ success.
Besides her work-related commitments, Ms. Austin consistently supports nonprofits, such as the San Diego Foster Angels, a charitable organization that provides joy to foster and at-risk children. She also contributes to Drugs & Diagnostics for Tropical Diseases, another nonprofit in San Diego that aims to discover new treatments and develop diagnostics for neglected tropical diseases and other diseases affecting impoverished populations. Her generosity is a testament to her dedication to giving back to worthy causes close to her heart. Ms. Austin is also active civically as a member of her local tennis club.
Ms. Austin’s hard work, reliable nature and solid reputation for providing quality work have been instrumental in her success and longevity in advertising. Often given the latitude to explore her creativity, these opportunities strengthened her capabilities and allowed her to excel.
